Meetup and discuss InsulAngel: insulin protection system

Group member Amin is going to soon crowdfund his new project InsulAngel.

This small device is a smart phone connected digital thermometer that notifies your phone when your insulin is out of recommended temperature ranges.

Let's meet and give him our feedback before he launches his campaign later this month.

Diabetics and all who care about medical technology are welcome!

Amin writes:

"Hello fellow berliner diabetics, I'd love to harness the power of this community and invite you to a -short noticed- meetup to help me with a product I'm developing to solve one problem that bothers me as a diabetic and Insulin user.

One major problem millions of diabetics and I face on a regular basis is our insulin spoiling in summer or freezing in winter without noticing it. Insulin is quite sensitive to temperature change and there is no way to find out if it is no longer effective, so when that happens, we diabetics would take the right shots and on the right times but our blood sugar levels would remain high, causing horrible headaches and stomachaches for a day or two before realising that we need to throw that insulin away and get new pens. InsulAngel is my answer to this problem: it is basically a bean shaped BLE accessory that I put with my insulin pens and that connects to an App on my phone. Every time the temperature starts to get critical for my insulin, I get a notification on my phone and act to save my insulin from spoiling or freezing. A working prototype is ready and I am getting help on the manufacturing and logistics side from relayr and Seeed Studio to bring this product to market so that other diabetics in the world can benefit from it and avoid these horrible episodes. I will put in onKickstarter sometime end of October 2014.

So far I have collected valuable feedback from diabetics and healthcare professionals, but I'd like to have your input on the project and the campaign, and I'd love to hear your opinion on such a solution.
