Avoiding the Big Ball of Mud

Abstract

Without special care, a software system is likely to grow into a Big Ball of Mud that is difficult to maintain. In this talk, practical ways are proposed to avoid such a decay.

The key to this approach is to visualize the dependencies at the level of the architecture and the design. Supporting tools are presented that are in use in the development of a real-life software system written in the D programming language.
