-1) "Full conditional probabilities lead to indeterminate probability values"
Probability is central to Artificial Intelligence. Looking at the foundations of probability will provide valuable insights into the deepest foundations of AI itself.
Bruno de Finetti famously declared ``every probability is conditional'' (1974) and he is not alone in discarding Kolmogorov's axiomatization of probability, with its ratio definition of conditional probability, for a theory of probability that takes conditional probability as primitive. On the other hand, de Finetti (with Savage, 1962) also expressed skepticism towards theories of probability that allow for imprecise or indeterminate values. The purpose of this talk is to show that you cannot have it both ways. Specifically, if one adopts conditional probabilities as the primitive concept of probability, then one must accept that at least some probability values may be indeterminate, and that some probability questions may fail to have numerically precise answers.
