Worum es bei uns geht

This is a group for people in the Bay Area who are interested in Natural Language Processing.

Since NLP overlaps with other fields, we also delve into related language technology fields like Information Retrieval, Machine Translation, Speech Recognition, and Machine Learning more broadly.

If you are actively involved in any of these fields, or just want to learn more, please join us! Our meetings tend to have a mix of practitioners in industry, NLP researchers, and people generally interested in the language technology industry.

We are always looking for people willing to speak at or host events, so please let us know if you are interested! We prefer to mix it up and have events in San Francisco, the Peninsula, or the East Bay, in order to make it as convenient as possible for everyone in the Bay Area to take part in the community!

Note: This group has nothing to do with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (the other NLP) - you'll be confused if that's why you joined us!

Google Document Understanding AI on a scalable cloud-based platform helps efficiently analyze documents - and use the knowledge hiding within - to improve process automation. She will also showcase use of new AutoML Natural Language features to help streamline the manual process of identifying and tagging fields required for signature in electronic contracts and other agreement documents. Using Google machine learning, customers leverage AutoML Natural Language & Cloud Natural Language to derive insights from unstructured text document & Cloud Translation to dynamically translate between languages. Bay Area NLP at West Coast NLP (WeCNLP) Conference

Bay Area NLP is partnering with West Coast NLP for a full day conference on Friday September 6th. WeCNLP is a conference hosted by Facebook, now in its second year. The conference will consist of talks throughout the day and a poster session presented by the Bay Area NLP Meetup to conclude the event. If you would like to attend, please register on the site for the conference (not to this Meetup event!): https://www.wecnlp.ai/ If you want to present, please also submit abstracts at the same site for the poster session! The top abstracts will be selected for lightning talks that are interleaved during the day. The WeCNLP organizers would like to assure you that WeCNLP is compatible with the multiple submission policies from EMNLP and CoNLL as WeCNLP is not archival this year. So, please also share your work with people at WeCNLP if you are also sharing them with people at EMNLP or CoNLL!
