Worum es bei uns geht

Power BI is a suite of Business Analytics solutions from Microsoft that covers the entire Analytics journey – from connecting to multiple data sources, to self-service reports and dashboards to publishing your insights to your organization or the entire world.

Apart from flexible and extensible visualisation features, Power BI contains data extraction and transformation tools as well as a very powerful data modelling and calculation engine, which are also found in the latest versions of Microsoft Excel und are known to many under the name of Power Query and Power Pivot. As such, many Power BI topics are equally relevant for Excel users that want to give their excel solutions a more solid, secure and powerful foundation.

With this group, we want to foster an intensive exchange around these technologies. Our Meetups feature presentations by Power BI users and experts, and opportunities to network, exchange tips and talk shop with other users.

Non-Standard Time Modelling in Power BI

Online-Event

Hi Power BI enthusiasts, in the summer session of our user group our co-organizer Artur König will talk about his experiece from a real-live project. In this project there have been special requirenments to change the time logic dynamically - this goes beyond the classic star-scheme where time is just "one dimension". Artur will show us how to solve this task by using all the ingredients of Power BI: Power Query, Modelling, DAX and formating. You can see one sample of the output here: https://app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrIjoiYTZmNGY4ZmItNzRlOC00MGRlLWJlM2ItMjg3ZWU1NDFmZjNlIiwidCI6ImY3MWMyZTVkLTA0ZmMtNGY5Yi05NWVlLTUxZWQ2ZGU3ZTUzMSIsImMiOjh9 This Meetup will take place on Tuesday, July 14 at 7:00 PM CEST and will be an online event. The link will be provided in time before the talk here via Meetup. Hope to see you all there and until then, keep CALCULATEing on! Best, Chris & Artur

Power Query Workshop Series - from Rookie to Pro

Online-Event

Hi Power BI enthusiasts, after the great feedback for our May Meetup on Power Query & Dataflows, we're happy to announce our first regular workshop, offered by our community member Michael Weiner on Power Query, where you'll go from rookie to pro-user in weekly sessions, starting June 24. One of the best features of Power BI and recently Excel is Power Query. Power Query is a powerful data ETL (extract, load, transform) tool. Its easy to import data from various sources and do simple transformations just by using the UI. Underneath the UI Power Query works with a magic query language called M. In the Workshops we want to learn everything about Power Query: starting from simple tasks using the UI, over manually changing bits of the query steps, up to typing our whole query functions manually in the advanced editor. We will start every Workshop with an introduction to a new topic followed by a hands on session, with some sample data. The idea is to learn from each other. Bring your query problems and we will solve them together. Please use the form below for any suggestions on topics you would like to see in the next Power Query Workshop: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=WEEZZCfSkkqowl2t2fjSAmTMtMJzRIlDpC3tJ-4Tt-RURDlRQzhJSzhHNDA4UFhJMkdCRkVEWk03WC4u Looking forward to the sessions, and until then keep Power Querying on! Best, Chris, Artur & Michael
