Worum es bei uns geht

PLEASE READ THIS: PLEASE NOTE that if nobody signs up to an event, I do not necessarily feel obliged to go myself at that specific time. I am not a mindreader, so if you are planning on going to an event, and expect to find me there, please sign up for it.

I am 65, retired, and finding myself running out of evenings and weekends in terms of making the best of what Berlin has to offer. Therefore, this group is especially (but of course not exclusively) for pensioners/retirees with time on their hands during the day on weekdays. Many events will still take place evenings and weekends, and therefore everybody is welcome. Suggestions for activities, and co-organisers are also more than welcome. The group is English-speaking. Events that take place in any other language will be clearly marked accordingly. Activities can be anything from going to the movies to gallery walks to walks around a lake followed by lunch - in short, most of everything Berlin has to offer. Also important to note: Events will start at the latest five minutes after the time stated. That is the amount of time I am prepared to waste waiting for people who might not even turn up. I also use the "flag as no-show" function, so you may want to refrain from signing up if you are not planning on going, or cancel if you decide not to go. And if you do attend but we don't meet at the start, please identify yourself either personally or by Whatsapp so that we can meet up after the event has started, or - in case of film, theatre, concert etc. - after the show.

Sean's Pub Quiz

Two Fellas Brewery

I have dropped The Castle quizzes, so let's try this one, which "only" takes place every second Wednesday, and does not have a league board, so there is no pressure to try to get a team together each week. Read more here: https://www.facebook.com/seanspubquizberlin/. The quiz starts at 20.00, so please arrive in time to settle in before that. The maximum number of people per team is seven, and we are already two people so looking for up to five more, but ideally we would be four or five.

Gallery walk in Charlottenburg

Benötigt einen Veranstaltungsort

On[masked], the gallery tour of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf - "Charlottenwalk" will take place for the 8th time, welcoming all art lovers to the participating galleries for the opening of the new year's art season. I will put together a walkable route to a large number of the participating galleries in due course, but you can see them all here: http://www.charlottenwalk.de/exhibitions/. Meeting point somewhere around Fasanenstraße/Mommsenstraße to be confirmed.

Exhibition about the Bauhaus movement, and perhaps a Vietnamese meal

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus Movement, Willy Brandt Haus is showing this exhibition. Read more here: https://fkwbh.de/begleitendeveranstaltung/bau1haus-die-moderne-der-welt-0. If you do sign up, please at the same time let me know if you are interested in following up by dinner in this restaurant: http://www.mama-cook.de/, just a short walk from Willy-Brandt-Haus (map: https://goo.gl/maps/pS9xB173sFH2), so that I can book a table, if need be. It is of course also an option to just join us for the dinner, if you do not have time to or interest in the exhibition. This would most likely be around 18.00 hrs).

Guided tour in German: "Singschwäne" in Unteres-Odertal

Criewen, Nationalparkzentrum

Read more about this annual phenomenon here: https://www.unteres-odertal.de/kultur-regionales/regionale-veranstaltungen/singschwantage.html . I will get back later with details on how to get there, but basically, we need to take the regional train RE3 to Angermünde, and then a bus. Therefore, the start and end times are currently tentative. You can also find a bit of information here: https://www.facebook.com/events/337638120352384/. The tour itself is from 13.00 to 16.00 hrs.
