Agenda

  1. PlantBuddy - Tim Waizenegger (IBM)

A cognitive app that recognizes flowers and plants Cognitive services in Bluemix include functionality like image recognition, text understanding or personality insights. With PlantBuddy, I present an app that was developed at a Hackathon as an experiment with cognitive services. I will discuss these cognitive services and their capabilities and show different ways of using them as part of an application. The PlantBuddy app serves as an example for that and also shows how a simple NodeJS based app on Bluemix can be turned into a rich mobile application.

  1. Machine learning by Watson - Sumit Goyal (IBM)

Coming up to speed with Machine Learning can be a daunting task. But machine learning is everywhere and it is here to stay. So, let's play around with Watson Machine Learning which simplifies the creation and scoring of Machine Learning models. Discover a intuitive visual builder experience and integrate predictive capabilities into you applications.

  1. TJBot - Make your own cognitive robot - Stephan Reimann (IBM)

Thanks to cognitive cloud services, it never has been easier to build cognitive apps. Based on the TJBot Maker Kit (http://research.ibm.com/tjbot/) I will show live how to build your own cognitive robot based on Raspberry Pi, Node-RED / Node.js and cognitive Cloud Services based on IBM Watson and how to build your apps on prototypes (which don't even require programming skills at all) based on that platform.
