Dear all,

Most of the Big Data projects end with the PoC and never find their way into the production. We want to show and discuss, how to build in bridge between data science, engineering and system operations. Lets talk about projects, tools, processe etc.

At the initial Meetup there will be two talks.

1. Via Swipe App to desired vehicle - Gamification and Machine Learning in action:

Together with Porsche Austria an app was developed, which enables a user to find the desired vehicle in a playful way. The user's preferences are learned through his swipe behavior, paving the way to the searched vehicle without further interaction. Technical challenges like the intercommunication between the recommendation engine, the mobile application and the Elasticsearch data pool are at the center of the presentation as well as the modelling approaches chosen for generating appropriate recommendations.

2. How to reanimate a fucked up data science project - The case of modern print impulse optimization:
   The modern customer expects to be addressed individually over a wide range of communication channels. In mass marketing this implies a dilemma: Marketing channels, such as print or television, can at most address groups of customers. From a data scientists perspective, this results in the challenge of finding clusters of similar customers, i.e. an unsupervised learnings problem. In this talk, we present our approach in optimizing print campaigns. We focus on the pitfalls, we stumbled upon ranging from technical via mathematical to communication challenges. After a first fuck up, we realized that all aspects have to be tackled on equal footing in order to get the beast alive, which eventually increased sales by more than 15%.
