🎙 Data Visualization meets Public Health: The COVID-NMA Project🎙

This is a special event organized together with the students association from NOVA National School of Public Health (AEENSP-NOVA), aiming for a discussion on the importance of data visualization in the context of public health. We believe the time to start making a retrospective analysis of the great data solutions created to manage these uncertain times has come. Dr. Isabelle Boutron will walk us through the COVID-NMA Project, created at the beginning of the pandemic so that all stakeholders had relevant, accessible, up-to-date, and trustworthy syntheses of high-quality evidence to inform their decisions. The platform provides a living mapping of all trials and a comprehensive living synthesis of all available trial evidence evaluating the effect of interventions for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19. The data retrieved and extracted can be explored through interactive data visualizations to identify research gaps and help prioritize and improve future trials. This event will be moderated with the help of Pedro Aguiar, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Statistics at the National School of Public Health, UNL.

***** About Dr. Isabelle Boutron *****

Isabelle Boutron is a professor of epidemiology at the Paris Descartes University and a researcher at the Methods Team (INSERM- Sorbonne Paris Cité Epidemiology and Statistics Research Centre).

She is also the director of Cochrane France, deputy director of the French EQUATOR (Enhancing the QUAlity and Transparency Of health Research) Centre, and co-convenor of the Bias Methods group of the Cochrane Collaboration. She is also a member of the Methods Executive of Cochrane.

She has worked on the internal and external validity of non-pharmacological trials and led the extension of the CONSORT statement on reporting treatment trials for nonpharmacologic treatments.
