- The Emperor's New Clothes - How investing money is changing
For many years investing was mostly about people wearing pinstripes and golden cufflinks making smart decisions based all kinds of research or sometimes maybe pure gut feeling. Also for a long time, it is known that on average all these smart decisions do not lead to outperformance over market benchmarks… especially if costs for the investor are relatively high. In this meetup we would like to give the stage to people who use technology to challenge the old world of investing money… or do their part in making it more efficient Agenda: 6:00 pm – Doors open and networking 6:30 pm – Short welcome by FinTechFFM and SleevesUp! 6:35 pm – First Keynote Solactive - German Index Engineering Fabian Colin - Head of Sales “Technology driven indexing. - Bye bye cash? - How will we pay in the future ...
Our next meetup will deal with the probably best established FinTech topics of them all – payments. The digitization of payments has been on its way long before anyone ever used the term FinTech. Still, many companies that had massive impact on the payments sphere were launched as startups over the past couple of years and by now turned into unicorns. Considering that in 2017 still 74% of all transactions in Germany were settled in cash it seems to be obvious that there still is a lot of potential for change… With this meetup we want to discuss where this is heading and how roles of different players might change in the future. WHEN: Wednesday, May 15th WHERE: FinTech Headquarter, Münchener Str. 45HH, 60329 Frankfurt am Main WHAT: 6:30 pm – Doors open 7:00 pm – Short welcome note by FinTechFFM and our hosts 7:10 pm – KEY-NOTE: Ute König-Stemmler, Head of Business Development Central Europe, VISA - "Partnership on a global scale – pain or gain?" 7:30 pm – EXPERT PANEL on the future of payment Gerrit Stehle, Managing Partner Elephant & Castle Capital (https://www.linkedin.com/in/gerritstehle/) Jan Heinrich Meyer, German Dash Representative and founder of Dash Embassy D‐A‐CH (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jan-heinrich-meyer-a5a6bb108/) Jochen Siegert, CFO Traxpay, FinTech influencer and initiator of the Paymentandbanking-Podcast (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jsiegert/) Ute König-Stemmler, Head of Business Development Central Europe, VISA (https://www.linkedin.com/in/ute-k%C3%B6nig-stemmler-55623414/) The session will be hosted by Michael Duttlinger, co-Founder of Cashlink and organizer of FinTechFFM (https://www.linkedin.com/in/duttlinger/) 8:00 pm – 3 STARTUP PITCHES: FINANZGURU by DWINS (https://finanzguru.de/) GIROXX (https://giroxx.de/) REMIPAY (https://remipay.com/) Followed by networking with an open end. - Co-meetup w. Plug and Play FinTech Europe: Trends and Insights in Cybersecurity
For this meetup we are teaming up with one of the local players that shares our vision of developing Frankfurt into the "heart of Europe's FinTech scene" - Plug and Play and their FinTech Europe Program (learn more about them here: https://www.plugandplaytechcenter.com/frankfurt/) This is how our friends describe what is coming up: At Fintech Europe, our goal is to change the world of financial services by working with the best startups and digital-driven corporations! That's why we started more than an accelerator, but rather an international hub in the heart of Europe for future-thinking corporations and eager startups to meet and engage. Through our Meetups, we hope to expose the community to what our startups and corporate partners are doing in our program. By establishing ourselves in Frankfurt as a key player in the field of innovation, we want to help foster the fintech ecosystem while simultaniously cultivating bigger and better networking communities. - FOES BECOME FRIEND – ON FINTECH BANK COOPERATION
Dear FinTech Community, Since our topic is about connecting to worlds, we will do the same with this meetup. Our friends of TechQuartier invited us to join them for their famous “Äppler Time” and we will bring along our community… and an exciting meetup. Some years ago, the news were full of young startups yelling “f*** the banks”. Some years later many of them learned to love their former enemy (…or started off in a friendlier way from the very beginning…) and built strong alliances that help to shape the future of finance. Our meetup will be about these alliances and the success stories connected to them. WHEN: Wednesday, March 27th starting from 6:00pm WHERE: TechQuartier WHAT: 18:00 - Get-together 18:30 - Welcome note by FinTechFFM and TQ 18:35 - 1st key note: Scalable Capital will provide some background on their success story of combining a classical B2C product with B2B products and services 19:00 - 2nd key note: fincite - the successful B2B-FinTech from Frankfurt on how they became a name to be reckoned with when it comes to digital financial services 19:25 - 3 startup pitches à 5 minutes followed by vote and QnA Blocksize Capital (http://www.blocksize-capital.com/) finbc (https://www.finbc.io/) modelogiq (http://www.modelogiq.com/) 20:00 - Networking beer and pizza with open end Thanks to our supporter VISA for enabling us to offer the usual beer and pizza and of course to our friends of TechQuartier for having us! - Corporate VCs - Best of both worlds?
Frankfurt may not (yet) be the biggest hub for start-ups in Europe, but it is home to a variety of strong corporations and by now most of them are very active to foster innovation driven by young companies. Who has ever said that incumbents aren’t able to “deal” with start-ups? Have you ever heard of Corporate VCs?!?! These players can offer a unique combination of capital and subject expertise, as well as a lot of potential for leveraging an existing client base and opportunities for further collaborations. But can they really fulfill the dreams of a start-up, or is there also a downside to the story? On May 23rd, we will have the chance to meet different corporate VCs at Frankfurt's TechQuartier. We will turn the tables and let them pitch their service offerings and subsequently enter an open discussion. For all you startups out there, this will be an unique chance to get these many influencial players in one room and to get in touch!!!
