Sunday Hike from Lübeck to Ratzeburg (20km or 33km)
We start the hike through the historic city center of Lübeck to reach the river Wakenitz. We walk along the Wakenitz to Rothenhusen on the northern shore of the Great Ratzeburg Lake, which we reach after 20km. Here it is possible to finish the hike and take the boat to Ratzeburg. The ticket for the ship costs € 9.50, see https://bit.ly/2vYmPdv. After a picnic break, we continue the hike along the western shore of the lake to Ratzeburg. This is easy terrain with good trails. The pace will not be too slow at about 5 km / h. Please remember to bring enough water and snacks. There is a cafe / restaurant in Rothenhusen, but also an nice picknick area. We will meet in Hamburg Hauptbahnhof at 8:10 in front of the DB-Reisecenter to buy shared SH-tickets. Costs per person approx. 10€. If you own a HHV subscription card and can use the whole HVV area on weekends for free, it is the best option to buy a single train ticket from Bad Oldesloe to Lübeck. Train connection: Depature Hamburg-Hbf 8:27 am, arriving Lübeck Hbf 9:13 am Depature Ratzeburg 18:30 pm, arriving Hamburg Hbf 19:39 pm (there ara ca. hourly connections from Ratzeburg) If you confirm your participation, please add a comment if you plan to take the boat after 20km or if you plan to hike 34km to Ratzeburg.

Worum es bei uns geht

Willkommen! Welcome!

We organise daytrip hikes in and around Hamburg and Germany's North. Once in a while we may organise overnight trips to further destinations. We want to enjoy the time outdoors with like-minded people and like to discover nice trails and locations with you. Please note that nobody is paid to run Hamburg Hikers - it is a 100% volunteer effort. Important information for all activities: Please be prepared for the hikes: Wear appropriate clothing (supportive footware, hat, sun-glasses, gloves, etc.. whatever is necessary for the time of year) and bring enough water and a packed lunch!

Release of Liability: All organizers of Hamburg Hikers are volunteers and no professional guides. By signing up for an event, the member acknowledges that he/her is aware and has made his/her guests aware of the risks, dangers and hazards associated with any outdoor activity and freely accept, fully assume and tries to avoid all such risks, dangers and hazards. The member and guests further agree to release and discharge the organizer of the event from and against any and all liability arising from his/her and his/her guest's participation in the event activities.

Looking forward to having you in the group!
