This meetup will be a semi-regular space to hone the craft of software design. We'll take a look at design patterns, refactoring strategies, etc... each session will focus on a different challenge.
This week, we'll explore the famous Gilded Rose kata which asks you to refactor a tricky bit of legacy code. In our kata, the Gilded Rose, a shop that sells magical and legendary items, has asked us to help them make their inventory software cleaner and more maintainable.
For this session, we'll work in pairs. Beginners are welcome! The only requirement is to know the fundamentals of any programming language (functions, loops, etc...). And to be a kind person - without the kind part, this wouldn't be much fun!
Testing is optional, but I'd highly recommend setting up your favorite IDE with a unit test runner. Tests are our friends. <3
