  • Online Friends Event: Code your Azure Deployments with Terraform

Dear Members of Azure Zurich. In light of the current COVID-19 epidemic and the worldwide isolation, a couple of Azure User Groups in Europe decided to join forces. You are all invited to join the upcoming Terraform meetup organized by the Azure Meetup Frankfurt. Just use the link below and join via Microsoft Teams. Note: Please add #azurezurich after your name. E.g. "Manu #azurezurich". Have fun... Rgds Manu *************************************** Quoting from the Frankfurt meetup: https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/Azure-Meetup-Frankfurt/events/269521359/ Details Use Infrastructure as Code to provision and manage any cloud, infrastructure, or service. Using HashiCorp’s Terraform, you can code every Azure deployment. Having your entire infrastructure as source code makes it easy to spin up new environments in a couple of minutes. Terraform takes this approach a step further, having a single language and a single CLI empowers you to define deployments for almost every cloud vendor. With Terraform Execution Plans, you can inspect what will be deployed, changed, or deleted in Azure without harming the existing infrastructure. Join our next Azure Meetup with Thorsten Hans Microsoft Azure MVP and learn how to write your deployments and quickly create different, independent environments such as Testing, Staging, and Production in Azure. THIS MEETUP WILL BE STREAMED BY MICROSOFT TEAMS

  • CANCELED: Azure Security Night @ Azure Zurich User Group

    Digicomp Academy AG

Dear Participants of the Azure Zurich Security Night, In Short: Considering the current development regarding the Covid-19 topic, I decided to cancel the upcoming "Azure Security Meetup" taking place on March 24th. There will not be anymore meetups until the summer break. I will schedule these meetup in the second half of the year. Many thanks for your understanding. Manuel In Detail: As you might be familiar, the current situation regarding Covid-19 is as follows: [masked] The Swiss Government bans all events with more than 1000 participants: https://www.admin.ch/gov/en/start/documentation/media-releases.msg-id-78289.html [masked] The Canton of Zurich suggests to cancel events with people in closed rooms: https://gd.zh.ch/internet/gesundheitsdirektion/de/aktuell.newsextern.-internet-de-aktuell-news-medienmitteilungen-2020-coronavirus_45_neue_45_empfehlungen_45_fuer_45_die_45_bevoelkerung_45_und_45_weiter_45_faelle.html [masked] Federal Press Conference BAG: No new restrictions but announcing that more are likely to come: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNnfC2hoftU Nobody knows what kind of restrictions will come up in the next days. And there is no fun in cancelling events on short notice or implementing measures such as registering everybodys identity on arrival. I expect to continue the meetup after the summer break. Lets meet for a night all about Azure Security! AGENDA • 18:10 Welcome from the Azure Zurich User Group (Manu Meyer) & Meet-and-Greet • 18:30 Talk 1: Azure Security 101 (Ivano Somaini) In summer 2018 Microsoft announced to offer their cloud solutions out of the Swiss data centers. Following that, a lot of local SMB and big companies decided to migrate to Microsoft Azure. Using the Microsoft Azure Cloud, any company can create and publish web applications with little effort. Due to this fact, critical security vulnerabilities can be built into your own infrastructure very quickly. The fast pace in which Azure functionalities are added increases the complexity and makes it hard to keep a security overview. Ivano got to know cloud solutions in well over 100 conducted security assessments and he also inspected the tools and services that will support YOU to securely operate Azure. In this session, we will dive into Azure Security Center, Azure Resource Graph, Azure AzSK, Azure Policy and Azure Blueprints. About Ivano Somaini: Ivano Somaini was already interested in IT Security during his youth and studied the topic further during his IT studies at ETH Zurich with a focus on information security. During his studies he deepened his knowledge in topics such as cryptography protocols, network security and e-privacy. His master thesis deals with the theoretical aspects of security. Ivano modeled and verified the cryptographic protocol Kerberos. Since March 2011 Ivano Somaini is employed as Security Analyst at Compass Security. In 2013 he formed Compass Security’s branch office in Bern, which he managed until 2017. Now he leads the new branch office in Zurich. You can find him at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ivano-somaini-04731257/ https://twitter.com/IvanoSomaini • 19:15 Snacks and Drinks • 20:00 Talk 2: TBA Ca. 20:45 end The event is free of charge, open to anybody interested and held in English. • Azure ML & AI at Azure Zurich User Group

    Digicomp Academy AG

We are very happy to announce our next meetup on Artificial Intelligence! AGENDA • 18:10 Welcome from the Azure Zurich User Group (Manu Meyer) & Meet-and-Greet • 18:30 Talk 1: Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Azure (Marc Schöni, Microsoft) Learn about the solution components available through the Azure cloud for building cutting edge ML & AI solutions at scale. About Marc Schöni: Marc is a Cloud Solution Architect at Microsoft with a wealth of experience for data science solutions across industries. On a daily basis he works with customers on designing real-world Azure based ML & AI solutions. Marc holds a Master’s degree in Data Science and is a lecturer on ML at University of St. Gallen. You can find him at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/aiguy • 19:15 Snacks and Drinks • 20:00 Talk 2: Introduction to Reinforcement Learning with Tensorflow Agents In this talk you will discover how machines can learn complex behaviors and anticipatory actions. Using this approach autonomous helicopters fly acrobatic maneuvers and could even learn to beat the GO world champion. Opposed to other ML approaches, a training dataset containing the “right” answers is not needed, nor is “hard-coded” knowledge. The approach is called “reinforcement learning” and is almost magical. Using TF-Agents on top of TensorFlow 2.0, we will see how a real-life problem can be turned into a reinforcement learning task. In an accompanying Python notebook, we implement - step by step - all required solution elements and highlight the design of Google’s newest reinforcement learning library. In the last part of the talk we take a look at the difficulties in using TF-Agents from a practitioners view and the approach we took at Geberit to address them. Speaker: Christian Hidber Christian is a consultant at bSquare with a focus on .NET Development, Machine Learning and Azure and an international conference speaker. He has a PhD in computer algebra from ETH Zurich and did a postdoc at UC Berkeley where he researched online data mining algorithms. Currently he applies machine learning to industrial hydraulics simulations in the context of a product with 7,000 installations in 42 countries all around the world. You can find him at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/christian-hidber/ Ca. 20:45 end The event is free of charge, open to anybody interested and held in English.
