Moshannon Group is one of the 10 Pennsylvania Sierra Club groups. It serves 11 counties, including: Bedford, Blair, Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Elk, Huntingdon, Jefferson, Juniata, McKean, and Mifflin counties. The Sierra Club is a dedicated grassroots environmental organization, inspired by and pursuing John Muir’s goals: To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the Earth; To practice and promote the responsible use of the Earth’s ecosystems and resources; To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment. In addition, Moshannon Group is dedicated to activism and education on the critical issues of fracking and global warming/climate change. Membership in Sierra Club is not required to join this meet-up but it is encouraged.

Tour Our Community's Wastewater Management Facility
University Area Joint Authority, 1576 V Spring Valley Rd, State College, PA, USThere are many reasons why everyone should know what happens to your water once you flush your toilet or run your dishwasher. To educate yourself and understand how UAJA works and how they lead in sustainability and water conservation, is to become more aware of the interconnectedness of wastewater treatment to public health, environmental protection, conservation of water resources, and prevention of water contamination.
Join the Sierra Club Moshannon Group for a tour of UAJA, Centre Region’s wastewater treatment plant. ‘UAJA is a recognized leader in management of wastewater for a growing community and has embraced sustainability and forward-thinking approach to wastewater management on a Watershed scale.’ UAJA – University Area Joint Authority.
This tour will take place at UAJA, 1576 Spring Valley Road State College, PA 16801 on Tuesday, November 18th at 1 pm. The tour begins at the wastewater treatment plant, followed by a virtual overview of the biosolids project in the boardroom, and concludes with a visit to the 9-acre solar array.
