Online Meetup: Creating Your Own Web Series with WGA Writer/Producer Bill Taub.
Details
Bill is a prolific screenwriter, author of Automatic Pilot (http://www.billtaub.com/automatic-pilot) and an instructor for UCLA's screenwriting program. He's hosting a Zoom conference for us on March 2 @ 7pm.
Zoom is a very easy to use, very robust video conferencing system, used by many in Hollywood. Full connection details will be provided to those who RSVP. The event is free, but only 45 people can attend. If you change your mind after you RSVP, please do come back and change your registration so someone else can have your place.
Why Write a Web Series?
A Web Series is the only form in which a creator controls the content from conception to completion! It's their vision, their voice that makes it to the screen. In this session, WGA Writer/Producer Bill Taub addresses:
Why there's never been a better time for the series writer/producer
The changes in media distribution which make web series far easier to fund and produce than a film
How writing a great series pilot can turn you into a show runner or get you on staff at a studio as a writer
How writer/producers are particularly well positioned to thrive in the modern media marketplace
How writing a series gives writers more freedom and control over their characters and the stories they create
The fundamentals of writing a web series pilot and bible
The process by which writer/producers pitch their products
About Bill Taub
Bill Taub (http://www.billtaub.com/about-bill/credits/ (http://www.billtaub.com/automatic-pilot)), with dozens of television writing credits for shows like Barney Miller, Magnum PI, Cagney & Lacey, teaches people how to write a web series for UCLA and serves as a script doctor/writing coach for many professional screenwriters. His book "Automatic Pilot" ( http://amzn.to/1n36wX1 ) is the only book of its kind that provides step by step instructions on how to write a pilot and bible for traditional and new media.
This is a great event for anyone who wants to learn the ins-and-outs of series writing, pitching, and production from someone with vast experience.
If you are a writer or a producer seeking professional advice or support on your project, bill is available to consult. Reach out to him at billtaubarb@gmail.com .
Bill is a true pleasure to know, and a great asset to the WGA and the Los Angeles entertainment industry community.
