We are very happy to announce our first in-person meetup again. Luckily we have a large location at our hand where can can run a responsible event with proper distance for the talk as well as the networking.
We have 50 seats available for this meetup only.

pandas.(to/from)_sql is simple but not fast

Pandas provides convenience methods to read and write to databases using to_sql and read_sql. They provide great usability and a uniform interface for all databases that support an SQL Alchemy connection. Sadly, the layer of convenience also introduces a performance loss. Luckily, for a lot of databases, a performant access layer is available.

Uwe Korn is a Software / Data Engineer at QuantCo. His expertise is on building scalable architectures for machine learning services and the teams around that. Nowadays he focuses on the data engineering infrastructure that is needed to provide the building blocks to bring machine learning models into production. He's a core committer to the Apache Parquet and Apache Arrow projects and recently became part of the core team of the conda-forge distribution.
He's also part of the PyData Südwest organiser team.

It's important for us to make this meet up happen in a responsible way given the COVID health situation. We have 50 seats available only. Everyone has to sign up for the waiting list first and we will let you know one week upfront if we can assign you a seat.
