John Ruhrmann ist Managing Director und Co-Founder (2009) des Digitalunternehmens Bookwire (www.bookwire.de) mit Firmensitzen in Frankfurt am Main, Barcelona und São Paolo. Rund 1.500 Publisher greifen aktuell als Kunden von Bookwire auf unabhängigen Komplettservice inklusive Konvertierung, Auslieferung, Vermarktung und Abrechnung zurück und erhalten Zugriff auf alle E-Book- und Audiobook-Shops, zudem auch Full-Service-Dienstleistung bei Print-on-Demand-Lösungen. Die Bookwire GmbH beschäftigt aktuell über 50 MitarbeiterInnen.
Ruhrmann zählt zu den innovativsten Unternehmern in der digitalen Buchbranche und greift dabei auf mannigfaltige Erfahrungen aus seiner beruflichen Laufbahn zurück: Nach einigen Semestern im Bereich Raumfahrttechnik wechselte Ruhrmann als klassischer Quereinsteiger in die Musikbranche. Dort entdeckte, vermarktete und begleitete er rund zehn Jahre als A&R, Product Manager und Produzent zahlreiche erfolgreiche Chart-Acts und begleitete sie vom Anfang der Digitalisierung im Musikbusiness durch den Transformationsprozess der Branche. Auch nach der Gründung von Bookwire blieb er der Musikbranche immer als freier Berater verbunden, u.a. für den Musikverlag Melodie der Welt.
Bei Bookwire zeichnet Ruhrmann verantwortlich für die Bereiche Business Development, Vertrieb und Account Management.
