Details

UXer Tammie Egloff will provide an overview about converting/working with usability naysayers, including techniques she’s used over the years to help them support her work and even sometimes become UX cheerleaders. Tammie has worked in a variety of companies with many different personality types to win over.

As usual, after the presentation, we invite you to network with drinks and snacks - until lights go out at 21:30.

About the Talk (in English)

Tammie Egloff will provide a mix of stories and tips for a practical approach to working with team members who are not ready to accept designs and research coming from the UX team. Over the years, she has worked with a variety of coworkers who have argued against small and large usability advice for various reasons.

Through different stategies, she has convinced many of them to not only accept UX feedback, but a few ended up being huge supporters of the team. These new cheerleaders ended up greasing the wheels for interactions with new coworkers.

Understanding various techniques and ways to approach more argumentative team members can provide a toolset that will enable you to come up with your own set of tactics when you need them.

About the presenter

Tammie Egloff studied Computer Science and Math at Central Missouri State University, USA. After her BSc, she worked as a developer for a company in Kansas City, but she quickly realized she was more interested in the usability side of things. So, she returned to university and completed her MSc in Human Centered Computer Systems at the University of Sussex, UK.

Tammie has worked in many different company environments, including her own consulting business; a startup-like environment in Southern California; an ad agency; and a very traditional, global publishing company, based in Amsterdam. Her user groups have included children, software developers, nurses, reporters, stockholders, and the general public.

Tammie has a vast experience in UX consulting and thus knows from her personal and professional experience the problems and challenges projects with UX naysayers face in the modern information and communication society.
