Welcome to R in Official Statistics

After our inaugural meetup last autumn at the SECO in Bern, we are now pleased to invite you to our second event at KOF Swiss Economic Institute of the ETH in Zürich. We have again a great collection of presentations from a research institute, a canton and the federal government.

Economic Statistics: R in Production Processes

The KOF Swiss Economic Institute reads, processes, exchanges and publishes large amounts of economic data on a regular basis. The institute has used the R language to migrate and operate all underlying processes into an open source driven ecosystem. This discusses what was crucial en route to acceptance and what hampered the establishment of R in the process.

Im 2018 wurde in der Statistik Aargau R eingeführt mit dem Ziel die Prozesse zu vereinheitlichen und zu vereinfachen sowie mittelfristig SPSS abzulösen. Damit die Änderung ein Erfolg wird, muss diese aber auch konsequent umgesetzt werden. Anhand der R-Roadmap werden die Schritte der Transformation aufgezeigt sowie die erreichten Zwischenziele beleuchtet.

Einsatz von R in der epidemiologischen Überwachung und Beurteilung von übertragbaren Krankheiten

In der Sektion Epidemiologische Überwachung und Beurteilung im Bundesamt für Gesundheit kommen verschiedene Werkzeuge zum Einsatz. Dabei spielt R zunehmend eine Hauptrolle. Was haben wir schon alles in R umgesetzt? Welche Projekte sind in Entwicklung und vor welchen Herausforderungen stehen wir? Shiny future ahead!
