Two talks. One evening. Plenty of ideas to take home. We’re ready to kick things off for another Berlin Meetup, and are happy to present the speakers of the evening:

Jens Wriske: "Designing APIs on top of Data Platforms using Databricks"

Modern data platforms increasingly follow a lakehouse architecture, where data remains owned and governed by domain teams rather than application developers. This session explores how APIs can be designed on top of Azure Databricks to provide access to heterogeneous data sources without duplicating or owning the underlying storage layer.

Tanuj Jain: "The Story Behind the Story: "Building a Contextual News Chatbot."

Most news readers lack the background to fully engage with the stories they encounter. This talk walks through the development of a chatbot embedded in a news article page for a German news publisher, designed to give readers on-demand context about what they're reading. We share the key technical and product decisions made along the way, and what we learned about building an AI feature that sits at the intersection of editorial and user experience.
