Abstract: We readily recognize the flaws of artificial intelligence: hallucinations, bias, inconsistency, misinformation, manipulation, and uncertain alignment. But what happens when we turn the mirror around? This talk challenges our assumptions about intelligence by exploring how remarkably similar patterns shape human thinking and behavior. From the illusion of rationality to the hidden influence of emotions, we will ask an uncomfortable question: do we really understand intelligence, understanding or thoughts as well as we think we do?

Abstract: Most AI agents are demos. Production-ready agents — with real enterprise data, governance, scaling, and full observability into what happens between agents — are a different story. We show how Event-Driven Architecture is the natural home for AI agents and what an Agent Mesh looks like that works model- and runtime-neutral — all the way to fully air-gapped deployments.

This exploratory practitioner research collects perspectives from AI professionals, software engineers, researchers, educators, hiring professionals and people preparing to enter the field. It explores the importance of technical foundations, practical projects, qualifications, certifications, previous professional experience and transferable skills, as well as which capabilities are likely to remain valuable as AI technologies continue to evolve.
