Bazel for Automotive

Details

📅 Mark your calendars for Thu, Jan 18 2024

During our first meetup in 2024 we want to shed some light on how building (automotive) software at scale can look like. For that event we welcome Patrick Ziegler from EngFlow - a SaaS startup redefining the way teams build software by offering remote caching, remote execution and debug UI for Bazel and other build systems.

❓ What is Bazel

In this talk, we will provide an overview of the Bazel build system with a focus on benefits for the automotive industry.

In the beginning we will introduce the Bazel build system, emphasising its core principles and design philosophy, while highlighting its key features that differentiate it from traditional build systems. Of particular note is Bazel’s commitment to reproducible builds by enabling hermeticism and strict dependency management.

Our discussion will then focuses to the practical benefits of Bazel for developers and continuous integration (CI) systems. This includes insights into how Bazel can optimize build pipelines and improve parallelisation, as well as advanced concepts such as remote caching and remote execution.

🇬🇧 The presentation will be held in English
