This is the Bonn chapter of Amazon Web Services (AWS) User Group which meets on a regular basis in and around Bonn to discuss and exchange ideas and topics from the ecosystem around AWS, their Services, and cloud computing in general.
Networking and socialising is a big part of this group combined with mainly technical talks about different aspects around AWS.
This group is based on the principle that content should primarily come from within the community and for the community. Therefore we welcome everybody, no matter if you just have startet looking into the topic of AWS or are already an experienced practitioner.
AWS User Group Bonn is an independent group; our activities and the opinions expressed here are not representative of Amazon Web Services.
We are always looking for people who would like to share their stories around AWS or could host our group by providing a location where we can meet. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with the organisers.

🗣️ Lessons Learned - Migrating 500+ CloudFormation stacks all at once
- Ever wondered which challenges you encounter when migrating 500+ CloudFormation stacks in a single move? We did exactly that and share what we've learned. In this session, you'll learn:
- which approach we've taken to accomplish the goal,
- what risks we identified ahead of time,
- and the unexpected challenges we encountered along the way.This specifically covers challenges with deleting and importing CloudFormation resources and reaching certain AWS limits. In the end, we'll share which improvements could have saved us some time and nerves. If you're a developer working with CloudFormation (or infrastructure as code in general) and looking for practical insights, this talk is for you!
- Sebastian Hesse specializes in serverless cloud solutions on AWS and works as a freelance software engineer. Besides having a strong software engineering background, he is passionate about automating the software delivery process by using infrastructure as code tools like CDK and implementing proper CI/CD processes. He enjoys sharing his knowledge on meetups and conferences.
