  2. Mark Meyer (DevOps und Cloud Native, MaibornWolff) will focus on the important topic of when and how to optimize cloud costs.

Time: Doors open at 6:00 PM
Location: MaibornWolff GmbH, Bundeskanzlerplatz 2D (Design Offices Neuer Kanzlerplatz), 53113 Bonn

Agenda:

  • 6:00 PM: Doors open and networking
  • 6:30 PM: First talk by Christian Bonzelet (AWS Solutions Architect, DFL Digital Sports)
Title: Perfecting the Play: Elevating Transcription Accuracy in Sports with Natural-Language-Processing
    Description:
In the world of sports, the clarity of game commentary is essential. However, traditional transcription services often struggle with the specialised lexicon of sports, especially when it comes to accurately capturing player names and technical terms. This session reveals how the Bundesliga addresses this challenge using Amazon Transcribe, a custom-built NLP model, and fuzzy-string matching, powered by Amazon Comprehend.
    Session Highlights:
  • How to orchestrate an advanced workflow that improves transcription accuracy and ensures data relevance.
  • How high-quality sports data can be leveraged to create and refine custom vocabularies, reducing word error rates and transforming generic models into specialized transcription solutions.
  • How to measure transcription effectiveness, strategically use fuzzy-string matching for error correction, and optimize custom vocabularies to accurately capture the essence of the game.

This session is aimed at advanced practitioners familiar with AWS Transcribe and Comprehend who want to deepen their knowledge and explore new use cases. Join us to learn how innovative NLP applications and data curation can turn transcription challenges into wins, ensuring every game call is as clear as the action on the field.

  • 7:30 PM: Second talk by Mark Meyer (DevOps und Cloud Native, MaibornWolff)
Title: Cloud Costs: The Stupid Man's Way
    Description:
This talk will develop a systematic model for tackling cloud costs effectively. We’ll share practical examples and custom OSS tools, along with insights on when and how to optimize for cost.
  • 8:30 PM: More networking opportunities

We look forward to an informative and fun evening with all of you!

Best regards,
Johannes and Andreas
