Über uns
This is the Bonn chapter of Amazon Web Services (AWS) User Group which meets on a regular basis in and around Bonn to discuss and exchange ideas and topics from the ecosystem around AWS, their Services, and cloud computing in general.
Networking and socialising is a big part of this group combined with mainly technical talks about different aspects around AWS.
This group is based on the principle that content should primarily come from within the community and for the community. Therefore we welcome everybody, no matter if you just have startet looking into the topic of AWS or are already an experienced practitioner.
AWS User Group Bonn is an independent group; our activities and the opinions expressed here are not representative of Amazon Web Services.
We are always looking for people who would like to share their stories around AWS or could host our group by providing a location where we can meet. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with the organisers.

#18 AWS User Group Meetup - AI & Serverless Edition - 04/2026
SVA Bonn, Joseph-Schumpeter-Allee 29, Bonn, DEDear AWS User Group Members,
we’re happy to announce our next AWS User Group Bonn meetup!
We’re excited to welcome you back to SVA in Bonn (Bonner Bogen) as our host for this edition 🙌
This time, we’re focusing on AI & Serverless — two areas that are rapidly reshaping how we build and operate modern applications.
We’ve got two great talks lined up:
- Jan Daniel Sulaiman will share insights into the future of AI-native development with AWS Kiro
- Christian Bannes will take us deep into the technology behind AWS Lambda and Fargate.
📅 Date: 14.04.2026

🗣️ Firecracker Deep Dive – How Lambda and Fargate Achieve Fast, Secure IsolationFirecracker is the open-source virtualization technology and is used as base technology for AWS Lambda and AWS Fargate. It enables lightweight MicroVMs that start quickly while providing strong isolation for multi-tenant environments.
In this session, we will explore why AWS uses Firecracker, what problems it solves, and how it compares to containers and traditional virtual machines. We will also look at the trade-offs Firecracker introduces in practice around performance, isolation, and runtime limitations, and how Firecracker can also be used beyond Lambda and Fargate when strong isolation is needed.
By the end of the session, participants will understand where Firecracker is a strong fit, where containers are still a better choice, and when it makes sense to use Firecracker in their own projects.
19:15 Uhr – Talk 2 – Jan Daniel Sulaiman
🗣️ From Prompting to Programming: Kiro and the Future of AI-Native Software DevelopmentAgentic AI is moving from prototypes to production, but most teams struggle with consistency, reliability, and governance. AWS Kiro introduces a new model: spec-driven development for autonomous agents, shifting the focus from prompt hacking to structured, testable, and reusable specs.
In this session, we’ll explore what Kiro is, why it matters, and how it changes the way we design and ship AI-powered systems. Based on hands-on experience from the closed beta, we’ll walk through how Kiro turns specs into executable agents, integrates with AWS services, and helps teams build robust workflows without heavy infrastructure.
We’ll also recap key announcements from AWS re:Invent 2025, with a focus on agentic development, automation, and developer tooling. Attendees will leave with practical insights on how to get started with Kiro, where it fits in their stack, and why this marks a shift in how software is built.
20:15 Uhr – Networking, Pizza & drinks
Wrap up the evening with great conversations, food, and drinks with the local AWS community. We’re looking forward to another great evening of learning and networking in Bonn.
Best regards,
Andreas & Johannes10 Teilnehmer
