Join Basel Circle © Culture #1 for a relaxed cultural afternoon at the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen: we will visit the Cezanne exhibition together, explore art at our own pace, try watercolor painting, and share conversations in a friendly athmosphere.

What we are doing

• We meet in front of the main entrance of Fondation Beyeler at 12:50 so we can enter together with our pre-booked online tickets for the 13:00 time slot at 24.2.2026.
• Please buy your own online ticket for 13:00 in advance; on Tuesdays, adult admission is reduced to CHF 20 instead of CHF 25 (25% discount).
• We visit the Cezanne exhibition: Beyeler shows around 80 paintings and watercolours from Cezanne’s late work, including still lifes, portraits, landscapes from Provence and his famous bather scenes.
• After the exhibition, we can spend some time in the watercolor studio and try simple Aquarellmalerei inspired by what we have just seen.

About the Cezanne exhibition

• The Fondation Beyeler is dedicating a major monographic exhibition to Paul Cezanne, one of the pioneers of modern art and an important reference for many later artists.
• The show focuses on his late period and brings together around 80 works from museums and private collections, with key themes such as still lifes, portraits, landscapes and bathers.
• Cezanne wrote about “sensations colorantes”, colour sensations, as the basis of his painting, which influenced the development of modern art and also forms the starting point for the “Sensations” collection presentation.
