Scenic hike to Oeschinensee + Lakeside lunch

A scenic hike this Saturday, May 23.

We're heading to Oeschinensee, a turquoise glacier-fed lake at 1,578 m, part of the UNESCO Swiss Alps World Heritage.

We'll have lunch at Chalet Arva right by the lake 🍲 - cosy chalet with a terrace overlooking the water, great food and apparently legendary apple strudel.

390 m up - requires good fitness.
3 kms length.

⚠️ Please note that this is not a guided tour and each individual needs an appropriate fitness level and hiking experience if they want to stay with the group.

We will take the IC61 from Basel SBB at 09:30 (change at Spiez to BLS Regio for Kandersteg). I will post a link to a whatsapp group in the comments section for coordination closer to the date.

Hike up to the lake takes around 1.5 hrs, then lunch, then the gondola back down to Kandersteg.
