Blind Spots: How Philosophical Bias and Conflicting Agendas Shape AI Development

Details

Join us for a thought-provoking online dialogue exploring how philosophical biases and competing agendas fundamentally shape AI systems. This virtual session invites all participants to contribute to a free-flowing conversation about the invisible frameworks—stemming from corporate interests and individual worldviews—that determine what AI can become and which ethical considerations often get sidelined.

Our meetup employs an open format without rigid structure, encouraging organic discussion and diverse perspectives. As a community, we'll collectively explore questions such as:

  • How do corporate missions, profit incentives, and competitive pressures shape ethical boundaries in AI development?
  • What philosophical worldviews are embedded in our definitions of "beneficial" AI, and whose perspectives are systematically excluded?
  • How do the personal values and backgrounds of AI creators influence technological trajectories?
  • What happens when organizational imperatives conflict with ethical considerations in real-world AI governance?

No formal presentations or panels—just authentic conversation guided by the interests and expertise of those present. We believe the most valuable insights emerge when people with diverse experiences in AI ethics, development, research, and policy can speak freely and listen deeply to one another.

Facilitators will help guide the conversation when needed, but the direction and depth of our exploration will be determined by you—the participants. Whether you're developing AI systems, researching their implications, or simply concerned about their societal impact, your voice matters in this dialogue.
