Dear all,

January was a blast, we had amazing talks on the meetup and delivered a Big Data workshop. It will be hard to beat, but we will try by bringing two new talks in a venue hosted by Shiftmove.

The evening

18:30 - Warming up and networking chat
18:45 - Welcome talk

19:00 - 19:45 - Renato Losio // Balancing Acts: A Developer’s Journey with RDS

The era when a web application could only choose RDS for MySQL as a relational database on AWS is long gone. Today, an array of engines and deployment options, including RDS, Aurora, and serverless choices, is available. AWS provides many managed databases, each offering multiple options, pricing models, and deployment patterns: how does one strike a balance between maintaining a simple architecture and succumbing to FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)? When is it beneficial to use a serverless option? We will conclude with a simple unconventional demo.

About Renato: Renato has extensive experience as a cloud architect, tech lead, and cloud services specialist. Currently, he lives between Trieste and Berlin and works remotely as a principal cloud architect. His primary areas of interest include cloud services and relational databases. He is an editor at InfoQ and a recognized AWS Data Hero.

19:45 - 20:15 - Short break with snacks and drinks
