RSVP via Meetup is mandatory to attend the event, due to limited capacity. Registrations will open on Monday February 9 at 11:00 am Berlin time.

Talk & Play is a free event that provides the opportunity to game enthusiasts, players and makers to meet in a friendly, relaxed and safe environment. Everybody's welcome, regardless of their background and knowledge level: if you've got any interest in games, we'll make sure you have a good time! This is NOT an event only aimed at developers.

The event series is funded by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and sponsored by Happy Broccoli, the Berlin indie game studio behind the Duck Detective series. A huge thank you to both for their support!

THE TALK PART (PRESENTATIONS)

Sebastian Möring: Precarious Pixels. Artistic Computer Game Photographs as Media of Care
Many artistic computer game photographs address the presence and absence of care. I would like to show in this talk that they themselves become describable as media of care. The notion of care offers a possibility to view the multitude of artistic in-game photographic works through the lens of one theme and thereby bring them into a coherent context.
Sebastian Möring is a professor of game design at Macromedia University and a media and culture scholar with a PhD in game studies focusing on game aesthetics and philosophy, in-game photography, and green game studies.

After the talk(s) there will be a section dedicated to short announcements from the community, get in touch to reserve a spot: info@berlingamescene.com — same goes if your company is hiring or wants to announce something and you'd like to get a sponsored slot!

ADDITIONAL INFO

Since restarting the event in 2023 we have asked attendees to wear a face mask. This requirement feels incredibly anachronistic these days so at the end of 2025 we decided to drop the requirement. That being said, we ask everyone showing any signs of illness to be considerate and refrain from attending the event. FFP2 masks will continue to be available at the door and we support anyone who feels like wearing one to protect themselves and others 💜

Are you attending the event for the first time, or are you coming on your own? The Talk & Play Ambassadors will be there to assist and answers any questions you have.

Our Safe Space Policy http://berlingamescene.com/safe-space-policy/ encourages the behaviour at Talk & Play. We request that everyone who is affiliated with and participates to the event honours it.

Our event is documented by Julian Dasgupta https://www.flickr.com/photos/12601747@N00/albums — for those who don’t want to be appear in any pictures, we're going to distribute stickers at the door to wear and signal this.

Alcoholic drinks will not be sold or allowed to be consumed during the event.

UE is a partially accessible venue. Feel free to contact us about your access requirements.

This event is organised by the Gamestorm Berlin e.V.
