Dear members of the BDML group,

we are happy to announce that we will be conducting our 4th BDML München Meetup on the 28th of April!

We were hoping to organize this Meetup in our offices, but due to pandemic related capacity limitations in our physical locations we will have to stick to the virtual format for this one. Stay tuned and follow our group for further events in the future - hopefully on site.

Topic 1: A Low-code AI / NLP automation tool - CGI TextAI

Adoption of AI in the course of digital transformation journeys for enterprises are mostly ended on Powerpoint slides due to an outdated system stack, lack of expertise and talent. By observing these patterns across different industries and companies, CGI has developed an automation tool "CGI TextAI" which enables companies to implement and operate NLP use-cases without in-depth AI expertise, facilitating a faster ROI and greatly reducing the process complexity of implementing AI algorithms. In this talk, Umar will give insights on how this Tool was built and how it can be used.
Umar, Muhammad - CGI Germany

Topic 2: MLOps: From model-centric to data-centric machine learning

Data scientists at the start of their careers often have the misconception that their job will be largely focused on training and improving models in a Jupyter notebook. The reality is that most data science value is created outside of a notebook, and to gain any value from ML models, teams need to get them into production reliably. This realization has led to the emergence of MLOps, and along with it a transition from model-centric to data-centric machine learning.
In this talk, Hamza gives an overview of the need for MLOps and a concrete example of creating a data-centric MLOps pipeline from scratch.
Hamza Tahir, ZenML

BIO of speakers:

Hamza Tahir, ZenML
Hamza Tahir is a software developer turned ML engineer. An indie hacker by heart, he loves ideating, implementing, and launching data-driven products. His previous projects include PicHance, Scrilys, BudgetML, and you-tldr. Based on his learnings from deploying ML in production for predictive maintenance use-cases in his previous startup, he co-created ZenML, an open-source MLOps framework to create reproducible ML pipelines.

Umar, Muhammad - CGI Germany
Muhammad Umar, is a Lead Consultant (Data & AI) at CGI. He is a full-stack data scientist who advises clients during architecting, designing, developing and deploying custom data, analytics and AI solutions.

Looking forward to it!
