Details

The next Berlin DevOps meetup will be kindly hosted by Polar Squad!
& will be the 2G plus (schnell test is needed) event with limited capacity, please RSVP fast to secure your place and if you are unable to make it please inform us over the RSVP.

For the 2G plus event, we kindly need to ask you to provide us proof of vaccination (covpass qr code or printed qr code. If you don't have a qr code please check with the next pharmacy, they can provide you) and that you register for our event with the LUCA app or the corona warn app. We will provide the event QR codes at the event location. Thank you.
Update: 2G PLUS - to provide for everyone a safe environment and since the situation is really got worse, we kindly ask you to invest the 15 minutes it takes to get tested at one of the various "schnell-test" stations.
It is free, it integrates already with corona warn app and luca app by clicking a link, or you can bring the printed out test.
We have tested it, worked like a charm.
Please do it within 24h before the event, not earlier.

You can find test stations here:
https://www.direkttesten.berlin/
--> best you book an appointment to see if the test station is still operational.

The event is limited to 35 participants

Agenda:

Oh Keptn, my Keptn: A data-driven way to DevOps & SRE automation
Andreas Grabner (because of Austria lockdown postponed )

Breaking down silos-
Patterns & anti-patterns in a DevOps transformation.

DevOps has been a very hot buzzword; lately, everyone wants to enjoy the benefits it brings. But as a young and non-academic term, it brings many problems and pain points to the game.

From what I have seen, most of the DevOps transformations are failing. I want to present some structures or patterns i have seen in the last couple of years of doing DevOps consultancy.

Yair Etziony -

Yair Etziony is the head of operations for Polar Squad Germany, with over twenty years of experience (in various roles, such as a QA engineer, System engineer, System administrator). Yair is also a musician and worked as an art curator and a journalist for magazines. He is one of the Berlin DevOps meetup group organizers, and he was on the comity for the Helm Summit EU 2019. He holds a BA in modern history and philosophy.

The GitOps Journey
Schlomo Schapiro

I will show why GitOps is a major waypoint in the journey from old-style Dev vs. Ops data center operations towards a truly automated hands-off operations future. GitOps is the technological core required for compliance automation, large-scale operations, and lowering the cost of compliance & governance as well as lowering the cost of internal tooling.
GitOps will give us a future, where we all take a step back, watch the bots do the admin job, and where we Dev, Ops, everybody work on improving the bots and invent new automation solutions.
Schlomo Schapiro is an Agile IT and Open Source enthusiast dedicated to advancing an agile mindset and a DevOps-orientated culture in IT. He works as Principal Engineer at Forto in Berlin, is author of several Open Source projects, conference speaker and regularly publishes blog and magazine articles.

The language of culture
Tom Hayton

I’ll give some powerful examples of the importance of culture- and how to navigate it- from over 20 years of experience living and working with “foreign” cultures. The talk will be practical, full of examples, and brightened up with a dash of British humor ;)
Tom Hayton is a creative director, consultant, and teacher from the UK, based in Berlin. I help technically-minded businesses and individuals become better storytellers.
