If you don't believe in supernatural entities or powers, if you are concerned about religious intolerance or religiously motivated violence, if you rely on human reasoning and science to guide your decisions and behavior, if you have a naturalistic view of the world, or you just don't believe in God or gods, you are not alone. The Boulder Atheists group provides presentations, meetings, and serves as a social community for atheists, agnostics, rationalists, secular humanists, Brights, and free thinkers in and around Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette, Broomfield, and surrounding communities in Northern Colorado.
Boulder Atheists wish to promote the understanding and acceptance of atheism with public education, good deeds, public activities and affiliations with other local and national secular groups. We strive to be inclusive to ALL and promote gender equality, LGBTQ equality and racial justice.
BA is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit Corporation and relies on membership dues to support the infrastructure required for these events. Please consider becoming a paid member to BA after attending 3 events. Paid annual membership starts at only $35. You can join at boulderatheists.org.

Longmont Senior Center: Gender in Humans is Not Binary

Recently, President Trump signed an executive order stating that there are only two genders. The facts of standard, well-understood biology show that that is a false statement. In this talk, we will go over multiple examples of how and why that binary fact does not match reality.

Dr. Michael Grant is a Professor and Vice Provost, Emeritus, from the University of Colorado Boulder where he worked for 43 years in the Dept. of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. His primary field of research was ecological genetics and data analysis. Dr. Grant is also a board member of Boulder Atheists.

Monthly Presentation: Omniscient God vs Free Will
Boulder Public Library - Main Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO, USCan God know everything and still leave room for human choice? If the future were already fully known, it might seem that our choices aren’t truly ours — a problem that also connects to why evil exists in the world.
Nathan Huffine will argue that these puzzles can be solved in a way that preserves human freedom, respects God’s omniscience, and offers a rational way to think about evil — by showing how God can know everything that can be known, even if the future isn’t completely fixed.
About Nathan - Nathan Huffine is a PhD student in Philosophy at CU Boulder, exploring ethics, religion, and questions of moral and political authority.
