Artificial intelligence and machine learning are globally trending topics in the early months of the year. But not everything that is labeled as AI does necessarily mean it is AI. How can we as UX designers, visual designers and creative developers identify relevant use cases, make use of it and anticipate how technology will change design?

As the pace of technological progress is increasing, we are curious to see where this particular journey will lead us in the future. With new technical possibilities, new ideas emerge and it’s exciting to see how this symbiotic relation will develop.

Prof. Michael Zöllner, creative coder, researcher, and professor for Interaction Design at Hof University of Applied Sciences, will give us a clear and practice-oriented introduction to the topic, by presenting common tools (@runwayml, @TensorFlow, @ml5js) and showcase practical examples. He has worked as deputy head of the department "Virtual and Augmented Reality" at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research (IGD) and studied Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg and at the imedia Academy (Rhode Island School of Design, USA).

Cedric Kiefer is co-founder and creative lead from onformative. He is passionate bout how art as a reflection of our lifestyle is influenced by technology. Artificial intelligence opens up new possibilities, but also sets new limits; it is both a tool and a parameter. Cedric will show us how to actively integrate AI into the design process. He has worked on projects like Collide, Pathfinder and Meandering River.

You will see great examples for a creation process, where human-made and machine made input feed each other.

After the talk we are looking forward to a lively discussion.

The agenda:
6:30 pm Welcome, snacks, & drinks
7:00 pm Prof. Michael Zöllner
7.45 pm Q&A and discussion
