Preliminary Schedule:
18:00 Beginning and Socialising
18:30 First Talk and discussion
19:15 Pizza & Drinks
19:45 Second Talk and discussion
20:30 Socialising and further discussions
The first talk is by Abdullah Shams. Abdullah Shams grew up in Oman and moved to Germany in 2015, where he completed his Master’s in Software Systems Engineering at RWTH Aachen. He currently serves as Lead Solution Architect at GEMIT, focusing on edge computing, computer vision and scalable system design. In parallel, he co-runs a consulting company that builds edge-AI prototypes and advises teams on architecting robust, production-ready solutions.
Edge Video Analytics with NVIDIA Jetson: Processing at the Source, Sending Only What’s Needed
This talk shows how to run video analytics close to source, using NVIDIA Jetson devices. The focus is on handling video locally, extracting only needed inteligance, and sending minimal data to the cloud. The session explains the core building blocks for running models on device, managing updates, and monitoring deployed units through simple cloud services. A live demo will use a test setup that can replay different video scenes to illustrate how the system behaves under varied edge conditions, from input to output.
The second talk is by Vishal Shanbhag. He is a Founding Engineer and Senior Solution Architect at Inbotiqa, a UK based Product Company specializing in enterprise-grade email productivity solutions. He brings over 20 years of experience in Fintech and Banking. He has designed software solutions for global banks, is skilled in agile development and cloud computing, and has held key roles at Nomura, Lehman Brothers, and Infosys. He is an alumni of Techstars accelerator and also a startup mentor. He is an advocate for software-driven innovation.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the AI Galaxy – Java, GenAI, and Cloud-Native Execution
This talk shows how to bring Generative AI into modern applications using Java, from local experimentation to cloud-scale deployment. We’ll cover rapid prototyping with local LLMs, mixing Java with Python AI libraries through GraalVM, and exposing AI-driven capabilities through simple Java services. The session then connects these components to Azure AI Foundry using LangChain4j, demonstrating how to swap a local model for a cloud model with minimal code changes. A live demo will highlight how GraalVM’s fast startup times make Java well-suited for serverless, event-driven AI workflows in the cloud.
