*** ABSTRACTS ***

Intro to open source observability with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and Tempo
What is observability? We can’t really talk about this without talking about what you want to observe: services. We will walk through the basics of observability and how to think about what you observe, and take a look at why the open source projects Grafana, Prometheus, Cortex, Loki, and Tempo are leading in the cloud native space.”

***

Cloud observability with Spring Boot Live Demo
We show how to instrument a Spring Boot application such that it's fully integrated into a Grafana/Loki/Tempo/Prometheus observability stack in Kubernetes. We go through a minikube live demo and focus on the rather new feature of exemplars attached to metrics.

*** SPEAKER ***

Emil A. Siemes is a long-term IT expert interested in building, running, and managing the next generation of distributed and data-driven web and mobile applications. After having worked at different companies like Sun Microsystems, VMware/Springsource, Hortonworks, Mesosphere & Google Emil joined Grafana Labs where he helps customers on their observability journey. Emil has a master degree in Physics from Technical University Munich and wrote his Master thesis at the Max Planck Institute for Physics (Werner Heisenberg Institute) where he worked on the theory of supersymmetry.

Andreas Grub is a software engineer and open source enthusiast at QAware GmbH. As a physicist by heart, he’s interested in complex Cloud software systems and how to build, maintain and observe them. Andreas is the creator of another OpenApi support library for Spring Boot and recently became proficient in the Go language.
