coding leipzig: fullstack web development (co-org with WMN)

Details

For October coding leipzig returns with a chapter on "fullstack web development". This time we're teaming up with the freshly founded WMN (Was mit Networking - https://www.meetup.com/WMN-Was-mit-Networking/) network group and therefore we've explicitly encouraged female speakers to propose talks to our meetup.

This is our agenda:

6:30 doors open at Spreadshirt
7:00 intro: coding leipzig & Spreadshirt
7:15 Tatjana: Modules or DIY - Use cases of external Modules vs. Custom Code

Tatjana displays typical use cases of externalized code, e.g. UI elements like dropdowns or forms. She'll talk about implementation details and important aspects of code maintenance: What's happening when you update your code but the library you use doesn't fit? She'll conclude with the proposal of a checklist that might help deciding which option to go for.

8:00 Kristin: How Storybook helped us speed up UI development

Kristin will talk about why her team introduced storybook and how the tool helped them develop UI components faster. She will show how you can integrate storybook in your project, which features can be useful and how designer and developer can benefit from using it.

8:30 Manuel Mauky (@manuel_mauky): Immutable JavaScript and TypeScript

Many modern Javascript libraries like React and Redux use functional concepts and utilize immutable data structures. Natively, Javascript still lacks first class support for immutability but that gap can be bridged by the right tools. Manuel explains the main idea behind immutable data and demonstrates their usage in Java- and Typescript.
