Slow Writers Club – The First Page
Details
This first gathering of the Slow Writers Club is a relaxed introduction to the group and to each other.
The idea behind this club is simple: To create a welcoming space for people who enjoy writing and would like to meet regularly to talk about writing, share ideas, and occasionally write together in a calm, pressure-free environment.
During this first meeting, we will take some time to get to know each other and talk about our relationship with writing. Some of the questions we might explore include:
- What does writing mean to you?
- Do you have a writing routine?
- When or where do you usually write?
- What helps you start writing when you feel stuck?
To spark the conversation, we will also look at a few examples of writing routines from well-known writers. Sometimes writers have surprising or very personal rituals, and it can be interesting to see how differently people approach the practice of writing.
We will also use this first meeting to shape the future of the group together. I will share a few initial ideas for future sessions, such as writing prompts, silent writing sessions, conversations about books on writing, or discussions of writers’ routines and we can talk about what kinds of activities people would enjoy.
The goal of this gathering is simply to meet, exchange ideas, and imagine what the Slow Writers Club could become.
Bring a notebook if you like, but mostly just bring your curiosity!
