Panel Details:

Kendrick Curtis - VP of Technology at Codacy

Kendrick Curtis is the VP of Technology at Codacy, working for 20 years in tech with the last 5 years leading engineering teams in SaaS startup and scale ups. At codacity he is leading product and engineering. He is a father of four and in his free time he likes to play football, squash, board games and RPGs.

Codacy's mission is to "make every line of code trustworthy" - as more and more code is either written or adapted from AI, it's important to be able to review code for quality, security and code coverage metrics at the same lightning speed as it's being generated. Codacy can spot code that's insecure, poor quality or not tested or whoever or whatever wrote it, and help you and your organization keep your source control clean by gating access to merging against these trust constraints.

Julia Kordick - Global Black Belt for Developer Audience at Microsoft & GitHub

Julia is a Global Black Belt for Developer Audience at Microsoft & GitHub, with a foundation in Software Engineering from her time in FSI IT Consulting. She is passionate about clean code and architecture, distributed systems, and problem-solving. With an eye for the big picture, she excels in languages like Javascript, Java, and Kotlin. Julia is also dedicated to learning and teaching, enjoys an espresso martini, and is an avid fan of American football.

Benjamin Eckart - SVP Platform & Enablement (Product & Engineering) at Babbel

Benjamin Eckart is the SVP Platform & Enablement at Babbel, being laterally responsible for Engineering (having about 200 engineers) at Babbel and leading the Platform & Enablement unit next to the company's AI strategy.

As a leader in the EdTech landscape, Babbel continues to make successful strides in AI to ensure efficient and quality work. Babbel successfully rolled out GitHub Copilot to all engineers above the junior level in 2023, and currently, approximately half of these seasoned professionals are actively engaging with the tool. Babbel is experiencing high acceptance rates, exceeding 20%, which has significantly contributed nearly 45,000 lines of code to our services and applications. The strategic rollout and integration of GitHub Copilot at Babbel have not only enriched the engineering culture with cutting-edge AI tools but have also markedly accelerated the development pipeline, establishing Babbel as a leader in embracing AI within the language learning technology sector.

Eric Bowman - CTO at King

Eric is the CTO at King, known for Candy Crush, and has held key technology positions at TomTom and Zalando. Throughout his career, which has spanned sectors such as telecommunications, e-commerce, and location technology, Eric has used technology to enhance traditional methods and practices. His recent projects focus on applying AI to areas like mapmaking and software development, aiming to improve efficiency, flow, and creativity.

Eric has been instrumental in adopting new tools such as Github Copilot and ChatGPT. Initially skeptical, he now views these tools as important for improving the productivity and cognitive aspects of software engineering. His perspectives shape how upcoming software engineers approach their education and careers, promoting innovation and lifelong learning in the technology field.
