NoSQL Meetup with MongoDB

Details

We finally have a date for our first NoSQL Meetup now.

As promised earlier. We will have Chris Harris from 10gen visiting Frankfurt and he will give a talk about MongoDB. http://www.mongodb.org/

Talk: MongoDB by Chris Harris

This talk will cover:
Getting started - CRUD and the JavaScript shell
Creating schemas for a document-oriented DB
Scaling with MongoDB (replica sets, master/slave, auto-sharding)
Interesting features for developers (geospatial indexing, capped collections, file storage, upserts and more)

Chris Harris is a Solutions Architect at 10gen, where he supports the development of MongoDB. Prior to 10gen, Chris held senior positions at SpringSource VMWare and Red Hat.

About: MongoDB – from "humongous" – is an open source, non-relational, document-oriented database. Trading off a few traditional features of databases (notably joins and transactions) in order to achieve much better performance, MongoDB is fast, scalable, and designed for web development. The goal of the MongoDB project is to bridge the gap between key-value stores (which are fast and highly scalable) and traditional RDBMS systems (which provide rich queries and deep functionality).

We are looking for someone to do a second Talk on that evening.

Contact us if you are interessted!
