The talk is to split it into two parts:
- SSL/TLS: Secure communication over insecure channels
- High-level overview of SSL/TLS
- Explanation of the handshake
- Overview of different versions
- Some attacks (basic ideas, no details)
- New features in TLS 1.3
- Public key infrastructure (PKI), certificates & X509: An introduction and overview
- Explain terminology & basic idea
- CSR
- Certificates
- (Root-)CA
- Verification
Both talks will be an introduction and will give some overview. I'm happy to answer questions and discuss those topics with the audience.
