Detailed Agenda
Orchestration with Jobs & Pipeline in FIEGE's multi-Workspace Architecture
Speaker: Simon Schröder (Data Engineer at FIEGE Logistik Stiftung & Co. KG)
Description: Databricks Jobs and Pipelines have evolved into a powerful orchestration framework, enabling the creation of workflows ranging from simple task sequences to complex pipelines. These workflows can be configured either through an intuitive graphical interface or via YAML-based configuration, allowing seamless integration of notebooks, scripts, and other pipelines triggered by various events.
In this session, we’ll explore FIEGE’s transition from a custom-built orchestration solution to leveraging Databricks’ native tooling. We’ll begin by examining our previous orchestration setup and the challenges that led us to seek a more scalable and maintainable alternative. Then, we’ll dive into the current capabilities of Databricks Jobs & Pipelines, highlighting key features and use cases. Finally, we’ll share insights into how we adapted the tool to fit our specific needs, the steps we took to integrate it into our workflows, and how it’s now driving efficiency and reliability in our data operations.
Data Project Templates at Deichmann
Speaker: Bartholomäus Rademacher (Senior Platform Architect at Deichmann SE)
Description:
This talk explores Deichmann's approach to standardizing data engineering workflows through reusable project templates and infrastructure-as-code. We'll examine the dsproject framework—a template-driven methodology that streamlines the creation, deployment, and management of data projects across Databricks environments.
