The Triangle of Corporate IT

Details
Marc Bastien has analyzed the game of corporate IT and written a book about all that is wrong. A good analysis is always the basis for change. Currently he is writing a second book about solutions. In two sessions he will give us an understanding of his insights. A wonderful chance to evaluate one’s own standing in corporate IT and hopefully provoke ideas for improvement. He describes the first session as follows:
The engagement of IT staff in organizations has been done for decades via a single function or department. Whatever title it bears, the single counter IT takes care of everything under the digital sun. This model generates unhealthy behaviors in the IT ranks that are detrimental to the enterprises that that need digital to operate, evolve, transform —or survive. Drawing a parallel with a more mature industry, the current distribution of roles is analyzed and compared. It shows that the standard structure is creating conflicts of roles that would be unacceptable —and in some cases illegal— in many other fields of work.
Although IT changed in nearly every regard, the roles in corporate IT stayed the same. It is time to look at these roles in order to achieve a more successful and less conflict prone way of corporate IT.
This is the first of two sessions: the next will be about finding new ways in corporate IT without mistaking symptom for cause. It will be on the 20. of November same time. This will be a preview into his next book, which is all about finding solutions for a better cooperate IT.
