Q3 Review: Gone Cray-cray! What mass beliefs will future generations laugh at?

Details
“Every generation laughs at the old fashions, but follows religiously the new.” ― Henry David Thoreau
"It's easier to fool people, than to convince them they have been fooled." — Mark Twain, attributed
"Oceania was at war with Eurasia; therefore Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia." — 1984
"One person with a belief is equal to ninety-nine who have only interests." — John Stuart Mill
"The religions of mankind must be classed among the mass-delusions... No one, needless to say, who shares a delusion ever recognizes it as such." — Sigmund Freud
We're almost into the last 3 months of 2017, so let's hit the brakes of this car called daily-life, and have an FT review session to ask ourselves, What beliefs do we widely live today, that future generations will laugh at? or that they'd be horrified about?
Like previous review sessions, here's how we play:
• If you have attended FT at least 3 times before, you are invited to give a short talk, 10 minutes max, then we'll add a bit more time for discussion, for your talk. Please message me directly with your talk idea.
• OR, if you are attending without a talk, please bring something yummy and healthy to share: fruits, food (preferably plant-based), drinks (wine or juice is cool). You'll move off the waiting list once you leave a comment about what you're bringing.
Thanks, looking forward to an evening of controversies, and hopefully laughter...at ourselves. ;-)
