NODE+CODE Meetup #25 Relearning Remembrance

In September, we are hosting a special edition of NODE+CODE. With #25 Relearning Remembrance, we will explore different digital archives of the cities of Frankfurt and Offenbach. If knowledge can be preserved digitally forever, will all stories be remembered? The various projects will highlight the challenges involved in digitising history and how forgotten history can be rediscovered and maintained.

Contributors:
Johanna Sentef is an anthropologist and digital curator with a background in science and technology studies (MA, Goethe University Frankfurt) and has been part of the collection coordination team at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main since October 2024.

Begüm Inal is a project manager and research associate in the DFG-funded project “The Digital Archive of the Städelschule, 1920–1950” at the Städelschule Academy of Fine Arts, working at the intersection of archival practice, digital humanities, and art history.

Historian Michael Lenarz joined the Jewish Museum in Frankfurt in 1985, and later served as deputy director from 2012 to 2022. As a curator and scholar, he conceived and produced numerous publications and exhibitions at the Jewish Museum, including those on the history and documentation of the older Jewish cemeteries in Offenbach and Frankfurt.
