DevSecRuhr as a guest at E.ON
Details
Hey folks,
it's almost time again - the next DevSecRuhr is coming up!
We have spared no effort and organized three excellent speakers for you. This time we will be hosted by E.ON Digital Technology in Essen, who will provide us with food and drinks in addition to the beautiful premises - thank you very much for that.
We will meet on August 27 from 7 pm at E.ON (Brüsseler Platz 1, Essen). The best way to get there is to take the U11 to the final stop at Messe/Gruga. Please register at the reception to get a visitor's pass. I will also welcome you there and accompany you to the premises. Please be on time, we have three talks and a tight schedule.
--- Agenda for the evening ---
Talk 1: "Converged security – where the digital and physical worlds meet"
The talk focuses on the convergence of digital and physical security in a world with increasing connectivity. The rising use of IoT/OT solutions and services not only leads to a greater attack surface but enables more sophisticated types of attacks – with real physical consequences, proven by many incidents in the last two decades. In this talk, we will take a brief look at what this means for cybersecurity, how can organizations adapt to this paradigm shift, and the work PHYSEC is doing in this space.
Speaker: Abdullah Ahmad holds a Master of Science in Communication Systems and Networks from TH Köln, where he excelled academically and actively engaged in various technical initiatives. Professionally, he serves as the Product Owner at PHYSEC GmbH, spearheading the development of advanced security solutions for critical infrastructure. With a robust background in both academia and industry, he leads cutting-edge research in cyber-physical security and contributes significantly to international cybersecurity and communications projects.
Talk 2: "AI fuzzers - how a new fuzzer era promises DevOps, management and government solutions for (almost) all problems"
After a brief introduction to fuzzer technology, the talk will present the new-gen type of 'AI fuzzer' using the examples of OSS fuzz, cluster fuzz and jazzer and illustrate their areas of application and their success rates in terms of code coverage using case studies. The reasons for synergy effects and the resulting reduction in effort through the integration of FuzzIntrospector and Maven JUnit are then discussed. Finally, an outlook is given on the further development initiated by Google.
Speaker: Veronika Busch, 49 years old, successfully completed master's and diploma programs at the Isits in Bochum, FH Cologne in the field of applied IT security and computer science; has been working as a consultant in the BSI KM24 department in Bonn Mehlem for 7 years. Tasks there are the evaluation of secure mobile solutions in the Android environment as well as evaluation-supporting work such as verification of test center reports, definition of future test center pentest and app tester assignments, acceptance of evaluation-accompanying manufacturer documentation. Her many years as a Java programmer at GNS in Essen before joining the BSI have opened her eyes to the 'limitless possibilities' and risks of software development.
Talk 3: "David vs Goliath - Revolutionizing Firmware Security with Open-Source"
Speaker: Christian Walter - Head of Cyber Security Department of 9elements, Co-Founder of Open Source Firmware Foundation, Founder of BlindSpot Software
We are very much looking forward to the evening with you.
Best regards,
the DevSecRuhr Orga Team
