DevFest 2026 Ahlen
Build, secure, scale: Developers and builders in the agentic era
This DevFest season we invite you to reflect on some major shifts in the developer landscape. The role of professional developers is evolving from writing to reviewing code and orchestrating autonomous agents. You can do more, faster, with models and tools that are getting more and more powerful. At the same time, AI is opening the doors for everyone to be a solution builder. It means more people can solve more problems, bringing more diverse ideas to life than ever before.

"Builders" use their skills and AI assistance to build apps, automate, optimize workflows and create solutions for any industry. They use developer tools but can work in different roles including product management or design. Gartner predicts that 80% of technology products and services will soon be built by people who are not professional software developers. In this world, a secure-by-default mindset is more important than ever. So is choosing the right models, platform and tools that match your needs and goals.

DevFest is the world's largest community-driven tech conference, bringing together developers and builders to learn, build and connect https://youtu.be/T8RBES766fk?si=i_AdripqRuqQZ7pg

Agenda

12:00 PM: Speaker Sathyaram Sannasi: Anatomy of a Data Agent: What's Actually Inside an Agent That Queries Your Data

12:45 PM: Speaker David Aniebo: From Clicks to Tool Calls: Building Agent-Ready Web Applications with WebMCP

AI agents are becoming capable of doing more than generating text; they can search, make decisions, and take actions on behalf of users. This creates a new challenge for web developers: how should web applications be designed when an AI agent becomes another type of user?

For years, websites have been built around human interaction: users navigate pages, click buttons, fill out forms, and complete workflows through visual interfaces. AI agents, however, need more reliable ways to understand what an application can do and invoke those capabilities.

In this session, we’ll explore how to build agent-ready web applications using modern Web APIs and WebMCP, an emerging web standard that enables websites to expose structured tools that AI agents can discover and invoke.

Through a practical example, we’ll transform a conventional web application into one that can support both human users and AI agents. We’ll examine how to design meaningful tools, define structured inputs and outputs, handle authentication and authorization, introduce user confirmation for sensitive actions, and build secure boundaries around agent-driven operations.

We’ll also look at challenges such as prompt injection, unpredictable agent behavior, error handling, and evaluating whether agents can reliably complete real-world workflows.

The goal is not to build another chatbot. It is to understand how the Web Platform is evolving for an agentic world and give developers a practical framework for building applications that are ready for both humans and machines.
