Hackolaus: A Hackathon for Social Good

Details

When the nights get longer and the weather outside is frightful, we need some warmth in our hearts.

Many people sacrifice their time and energy to create this warmth by giving and contributing to the benefit of those less fortunate and in need.

Many NGOs, associations and individuals also work hard to give to social, environmental or other sustainability causes. We believe that they should not only give but also receive, that society should give back to them. And we believe that making can make a difference to their mission, especially in the darker days.

This is why your favorite tech communities, Open Tech School Leipzig, Open Tech Community Leipzig, URBN Jungle and Code Camp Leipzig, are collaborating on a hackathon to support these organizations with solutions to help them focus more on delivering impact.

We're gathering not for profit organizations doing work on social, environmental and economic sustainability to share their work, frustrations and goals. With this information, attendees will form teams to build solutions for the non profit of their choice.

Solutions can include web page redesign, process automation, marketing campaigns, copy writing, translation and anything else that helps these organizations work better, faster, smarter.

A big thank you to our sponsors and partners:

NGO's
Adaption Leipzig (IGB e.V.)

"Abstinence is not everything, but without abstinence everything is nothing." Adaption Leipzig encourages and empowers their clients aged 16 and above to abstain. They see extensive abstinence as the best way for addicts to lead a satisfied, independent and self-determined life.

Gleichwürdig. Miteinander. Lernen. e.V.

Gleichwürdig.Miteinander.Lernen e.V. is a non-profit association founded in Leipzig with the aim of creating liberating educational and experiential spaces. The aim is to create an educational landscape that contributes to the transformation of the educational system.

KulturLeben Leipzig & Region (VILLA e.V.)

KulturLeben Leipzig & Region procures unsold tickets for cultural and sporting events free of charge to people with particularly low incomes - in other words, places for enthusiasm. Culture is too valuable to leave places free. It connects people and should be accessible to everyone. KulturLeben Leipzig & Region helps to overcome financial borders.

Stadtsportbund Leipzig e.V.

The Stadtsportbund Leipzig e.V. is part of the structure of the German Olympic Sports Federation (DOSB) and is responsible for the sports self-administration in the city of Leipzig. As a regional umbrella organisation, it is responsible for almost 400 sports clubs and 15 trade associations in Leipzig and looks after around 99,500 sportsmen and women of all ages.

Theatrium Leipzig (großstadtKINDER e.V.)

The Theatrium is a social-integrative theatre-project for children and youths. Together with professional theatre trainers, fashion designers and media-teachers, the young people here develop their own theatre plays, costumes, make-ups and short films. There's no participation fee or casting, everybody is invited to come and dream, play, learn, explore and have fun at the Theatrium!
