---------------
Agenda:
06.00 pm - Walk-in/Doors open: Food & Drinks
06.50 pm - Welcome
07.00 pm - Oops moments part I:
- Antonis Kalipetis - Restructuring the partition table in production
One sunny day, the file system of our production application (SourceLair - Online IDE) ran out of inodes. As we tried to rectify the situation, we bricked the partition table of our data disk. As if this wasn't enough, we found out that the backup utility had stopped working, along with a bug in the notification system of our provider that would notify us when a backup would fail or be omitted. After all, we managed to restructure the partition table, extend inodes, bring the application online and also guard us from such future incidents. But how?
07:30 pm - Break
07.45 pm - Oops moments part II:
- Anastasiia Urmanavichius - And then he said: now you really are an engineer!
Anastasiia will share a story about her first Oops moment due to an incorrect cleaning activity on a production database server which caused a 15 min outage affecting all customers and how she handled it. - Daniel Bornkessel - When Silence Fell: A SoundCloud Outage Story
In this session, Daniel will share a personal account from his time at SoundCloud, detailing an incident that led to a notable downtime (well ... SoundCloud's longest to date actually) - a story that remains a point of reference even for those who joined the company after his tenure. This talk is more than just a recount of a technical glitch; it's an insight into how a well-nurtured culture of handling failures can turn challenges into opportunities for growth.
08:15 pm - Quiz
08.30 pm - Get together with snacks and drinks
09.00 pm - Doors closing
