Details

Ever since Hudson (a.k.a. Jenkins) came up in 2005 as one of the first Continuous Integration servers, more and more new CI/CD solutions emerged on the market. Nowadays there is a broad variety of tools and it's hard to keep track. Here comes our CI/CD hackathon into play: Goal of this event is to hack as many CI/CD tools as possible and get hands-on experience regarding features, ease-of-use and practicability for certain use-cases.

We are planning to look at least at

• Jenkins
• Concourse
• Circle CI
• Gitlab (its CI integration)
• GoCD
drone.io
• travis ci

Feel free to "bring your own CI/CD server" if it is not on the list. A comparison might take place regarding:

• set up of the tool
• how to set up projects and pipelines
• scriptability
• integration of 3rd party tools

Currently we will have on-site support via experts from

• Circle CI
• GoCD
drone.io (online)
• (most likely) Concourse

Furthermore, Gitlab promised to send some swag :)

Prerequisites

Although it's not necessary that you have worked with CI/CD servers before, it might be helpful to have at least a basic understanding what Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery is.
